“I have worked with Siobhan McMahon on numerous projects over the last 10 years mainly Educational, but also on Residential and Commercial projects with cost ranging in value from £200k to £4M and I have always been impressed by her ability to interpret and deliver the Client’s demands and aspirations, whilst at the same time being very mindful of costs and the advice from her Quantity Surveyor.
Siobhan’s management and engagement of the Design Team and the Contractor eliminates adversarial behaviours and disputes and develops a strong ‘team spirit’ with the result that her projects are enjoyable to work on. Above all it is Siobhan’s passion and enthusiasm for each project that shines through and ensures that her Clients expectations are met with a building of the highest quality relative to cost."
"I have known Siobhan for nearly ten years initially through work projects from my firm CK21 but a lot more latterly in relation to our work with schools, colleges and the development of the industry profile in order to attract more women into construction. I am the regional chair of CIC NE Committee (as well as the CIC Nations and Regions Champion) and Siobhan has been a member for a number of years and is wholeheartedly involved! We have developed local talks to schools careers advisors in relation to the industry where she has represented not only RIBA but NAWIC. The feedback I have received is always extremely positive, especially in highlighting that our industry is not a ‘men only’ one! We are in the process of starting a couple of 2015 projects with schools, the Wonder Challenge and CIOB Student Challenge. Siobhan is always at the heart of these and real positive force in their development.
I started my own business ten years ago and I know what stresses and strains she is going through now, with the commencement of Emerald Architects, and yet she still manages to put in all the extra work that the industry needs for its own development and sustainable future. She is a big advert for women in construction, but an even bigger one for the construction industry."
"If you need an architect to design a residential property which is a very personal thing then you need look no further than Siobhan. She is creative in her designs and very capable of interpreting the personal thoughts and ideas of a client and translating those personal things into a workable design. Our experience involved probably more complications with planners than most but Siobhan took it in her stride and solved the problems even after we had lost motivation. All this was carried out in a most cost effective manor and we have ended up with the perfect home."
Siobhan McMahon-Walsh has supported the College since 2011 when the College embarked up the restoration of an old sail making warehouse for the purposes of creating a distinctive stand alone A Level centre.
Siobhan, created concept designs which immediately wetted our appetite and showed the College how the heritage of the warehouse could be sympathetically restored and retained whilst creating an iconic, modern, vibrant facility for students to use for future their learning and development.
Siobhan was instrumental, not only in the design of the centre, but also on the second phase which extended the centre in 2013, in the project management of the building contractor. She showed her creativity, organisational skills and tenacity as she led both schemes to successful completions.
Siobhan has also displayed her passion for education throughout this time, spending many additional hours in the College with staff and students, to promote the construction industry and to participate and showcase projects which bring students of all levels together with a common aim. Her energy and enthusiasm are truly inspiring.
